Currently as Chairman of the Miyamoto Institute of Asian Research, and Vice President of the Japan-China Friendship Center, Ambassador Yuji Miyamoto started his career in Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in 1969. During that time, Amb. Miyamoto worked in various divisions in MOFA, including the China and Mongolia Division, Development Cooperation Division, Soviet Union Division, Arms Control and Disarmament Division and Policy Planning Division.
Amb. Miyamoto also acquired extensive working experience in China and Myanmar throughout his diplomatic career. He served as Ambassador, Director-General for Arms Control and Scientific Affairs, MOFA, Japan from 2001 to 2002, and then was Ambassador to the Union of Myanmar from 2002 to 2004. Amb. Miyamoto also served as the Ambassador of Japan to the People’s Republic of China from 2006 to 2010.
