Rakesh Bhatia
Rakesh Bhatia is HSBC’s Global Head of Trade and Supply Chain. In this role, he is responsible for providing HSBC clients with trade services and supply chain solutions around the globe, a role he has undertaken since January 2011.
Prior to this, Mr Bhatia was CEO of HSBC in Indonesia, from June 2007 to January 2011 He was responsible for expanding HSBC’s local network He also contributed substantially to the Group’s successful acquisition of a controlling stake in Bank Ekonomi in Indonesia, which nearly doubled HSBC’s presence in this emerging market to over 200 outlets in 26 cities, the largest HSBC branch network in Asia outside Hong Kong.
Since joining HSBC in 1987, Mr Bhatia has worked in India, Bahrain, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, with roles encompassing corporate and investment banking, personal financial services and Group training.
Mr Bhatia received his Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in commerce degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi, and MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA).
